The Empty Locker
Since I am asking students to share their poetry, I wanted to share one with them.
The Empty Locker
By Michael Larson
The empty locker sits open--
In it were memories of
studies long since done
and
friends that brought
laughter and cheer
That empty locker tells
not of regret of days gone by,
but
instead it tells
of futures to come
The empty locker that is barren and hollow
not because of what is behind you,
but
because you have taken so much from it
to bring with you for the tomorrows.
